Hi Jacob,I assume the "(base)" in your prompt means that you're running this with a conda environment activated? Either way, I tested the steps fromÂhttps://htcondor.readthedocs.io/en/latest/getting-htcondor/install-linux-as-user.html in an AlmaLinux 9.7 container, and they worked as expected both in a "vanilla" shell and within a fresh, base conda environment.Question back to you, did you run into trouble trying to run "./bin/make-personal-from-tarball" before making it executable with chmodÂ+x? I found this step to be unnecessary. I'm wondering if, for some reason, the tarball got unpacked without the correct permissions on files. From inside the unpacked condor directory, every file in ./bin (which should be symlinked to ./usr/bin) should have 755 (rwxr-xr-x) permissions,Âexcept for links. Can you check and see if that's indeed the case on your end?Jason_______________________________________________On Mon, Apr 13, 2026 at 12:36âPM Jacob Fosso Tande <jfossot@xxxxxxxx> wrote:Thank you JasonOS:ÂRed Hat Enterprise Linux release 9.7 (Plow)Tarball ( fromÂhttps://htcss-downloads.chtc.wisc.edu/tarball/current/current/):Âcondor-x86_64_AlmaLinux9-stripped.tar.gz ( I believe this is the one closest to Red Hat Linux)Thank you for your helpOn Mon, Apr 13, 2026 at 10:00âAM Jason Patton via HTCondor-users <htcondor-users@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Hi Jacob,Can you let us know which operating system you're installing this on and which tarball (the name of the .tar.gz file) that you downloaded and unpacked?Jason_______________________________________________On Fri, Apr 10, 2026 at 9:03âAM Jacob Fosso Tande via HTCondor-users <htcondor-users@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:_______________________________________________Good morning,
Sorry for double posting.
Please, I am trying to follow the instructions for aÂHPC -user Install as described on the website. I keep getting the following error:
This directory doesn't have sbin/condor_master; did you unpack the tarball?
This is the instruction I have issued:
chmod +x bin/make-personal-from-tarballÂ
(base) [jfossot@login03 condor]$ ./bin/make-personal-from-tarballÂ
This directory doesn't have sbin/condor_master; did you unpack the tarball?
I unpacked correctly and this is the content of my work directory:
(base) [jfossot@login03 condor]$ ls
binÂcondor_installÂÂexamplesÂÂlib ÂÂlibexecÂÂmanÂNOTICE.txtÂÂsbinÂÂvar
condor_configureÂÂetcÂincludeÂÂlib64ÂÂLICENSEÂÂManifest.txtÂreleaseÂusr
Thank you for your help
