Hi Christoph,
I'm looking for a global location where I can do this. I may not be able to log in on this machine. HOSTDENY_WRITE = worker42.example.com, â was entered in the central condor_collector daemon and excluded the hosts in the list.

With DENY_ADVERTISE_STARTD = worker42.example.com, â
in the condor_collector daemon, it works for me.

Hi Leon,

I think the common solution is to  include a custom classadd in the START expression:

START = $(START) && StartJobs == true

for example, then default StartJobs to true by putting it in the host classadd and make it remote changeable through condor_config_val -set

Therer are some details like you need it to be settable and a startd option but that is no rocket science, if you want to do it let me know and I will dig out the complete version of it ;)
