Re: [HTCondor-users] condor version 9.0.17 rpms for el9 (Rocky 9)

Host based security is not recommended. However, we have done nothing to stop host-based security from working.

You should be able to "use security:host_based" in HTCondor 9, 10, 23, and 24.

Let us know if you have problems with host-based security.

Thanks Tim for your response.

I was referring if I need to update the major version to 10 or 23 from 9 then we need to change the security configuration as host based security afaik is not supported version 10 onwards.

I don't know what your host-based security concern is here. The big security configuration change came with the 8.8 to 9.0 transition. We have made minor improvements to the default security configuration since then. Of course, one can revert to the old host-based security with: "use security:host_based" in your configuration.

Hopefully, that's helpful.

The first release that had any support for Enterprise Linux 9 was HTCondor 10.2.0. However, we had significant challenges getting cgroup v2 support correct. The earliest version that has all the cgroup v2 shortcomings fixed is HTCondor 23.10.1. At that point, you may as well use HTCondor 24.0.1. We did back-port the cgroup v2 fixes to HTCondor 23.0.17. So, that is an alternative.

Sorry, the is no HTCondor 9 support for Enterprise Linux 9.

Hello Experts,

I know condor 9.0.17 is an older version. We are planning to switch to condor new versions. Because of some dependencies with host based security we are still sticking with condor version 9.

I couldn't find the condor 9 packages for Rocky9. Am I looking in the wrong location? If not, would it be possible to have these packages for Rocky9?

Appreciate any input on this topic.

Thanks & Regards,
