Relocating Simics shouldn't be a problem. However: There must be a symlink called "simics" in your $GEMS directory, which points to the directory in which Simics is installed.. The symlinks to the Ruby and Opal module code must be correct (see step 4 of the "Setup" guide in the Gems Wiki documentation).
