HPC maintenance complete; software changes required

Greetings CHTC users, 

 

This message is for users of our HPC cluster (accessed through hpclogin3.chtc.wisc.edu). 

 

The cluster is back up! Users should be able to log in and submit jobs. 

 

As noted, maintenance took longer than expected and this had the follow side effects: 

• Job states were *not* preserved in the queue. Jobs that were still in the queue at the time of the maintenance are likely no longer in the queue and should be checked on. 
• In order to address a security vulnerability, MPI modules had to be upgraded and recompiled, and other modules that depend on MPI also had to be recompiled accordingly. This means that if you used CHTC provided modules to compile your own code, it’s likely that you will need to recompile your code. 

 

We apologize for not providing advance notice of either of these maintenance side effects.
