Subject: [Chtc-users] SQUID proxy still down; ALL ChtcRun and chtcjobwrapper jobs also affected
Greetings CHTC users,Â

This is an update on the SQUID proxy for large files on the high throughput (HTC) system in CHTC. Beyond jobs where users download files directly from the SQUID proxy address (proxy.chtc.wisc.edu/SQUID), ALL jobs reliant on the ChtcRun package or chtcjobwrapper executable are affected.

Due to unforeseen delays, our transition to a new SQUID proxy will not be completed by the end of today, as previously stated.ÂWe will actually need to remove all access to the /squid location on CHTC-owned submit servers (for placing files), and jobs reliant on the SQUID proxy will work very inconsistently, or sometimes not at all, until we have a proper fix. Users should wait to run any jobs with large, squid-dependent files (or ChtcRun or chtcjobwrapper dependency) until further notice.

We, ourselves, are very frustrated at the delay in restoring SQUID functionality and offer our apologies for inconveniences to users, including repeated emails. Our systems administrators have been working very hard and appreciate your patience. (Feel free to send them girl scout cookies via your favorite Research Computing Facilitator!)

We hope to have the new SQUID proxy and /squid location operational as soon as possible, hopefully by the end of the week, and will send another email at that time.

Please feel free to send us any questions or comments to chtc@xxxxxxxxxxx

Sincerely,
Your CHTC Team
