Howdy,

Jordan Henkel will be giving a presentation on using Docker to improve your research workflow. The presentation is at noon on February 25 in CS 3310. Bring your laptop and follow along!

Abstract:

In this workshop we will introduce Docker: an industry standard tool for running containers. Docker makes it easier to share research artifacts by bundling the "setup" of an experiment (dependencies, environment variables, etc.) with the actual executable code. We will cover Docker basics such as registries, images, containers, and volumes. Following this, we will look at examples of using Docker to run research code (like training a model with PyTorch). Last, but not least, we will take a quick look at using Docker on HTCondor for large scale workloads.

To make the most of this workshop (and actively participate) please bring a machine with Docker installed. If you don't have docker installed locally you can read the documentation here (https://docs.docker.com/install/) or you can always SSH into another machine you have access to that has a working docker installation.
