style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Microsoft relies on its Research
division to lead the way in identifying and developing the technologies of the
new century. Imagine that your computer--which is also your laptop,
notepad, and scanner--wakes you up in the morning, knows your favorite color,
food, or song, and contacts your best friend via video. Imagine that your
keyboard is obsolete, and that your voice rules all. That your digital
identification stores your preferences, play list, and finances. That the
voice activated system in your car's dashboard surfs the Web and screens your
calls; that your phone accesses local networks and your medical records.
Now imagine that this rich capability is being created right now. It's
called Microsoft .NET: one platform for all media, all
programming--collaborative, open, creative, and exciting.

outstanding research scientists with the vision, knowledge, passion, and
commitment to be part of our team. What better way to get an up close and
personal look at this future than by spending the summer working on very
challenging projects with some very bright researchers? Our past interns
have greatly impacted research in key technical areas, published papers based on
their summer work at MSR, established strong ties with our industrial research
staff as well as other interns, been challenged to look at super tough problems
in new ways, and all the while, having fun doing it.
