Subject: Talk on Intel Pentium 4 processor

Doug Carmean from Intel will be talking about the
Pentium 4 (Willamette) processor, in my CS/ECE 752
class on Monday, September 25. Please feel free to attend.

Time: Monday, September 25, 11:00-12:15
Place: 3345 Engineering

Abstract:

The talk will be on the Pentium 4 Processor (aka
Willamette). It will be the same talk that I gave
at the Intel Developer's Forum at the end of August.
The talk will highlight some of the innovations that
are present in the processor. I'll walk through the
branch misprediction pipeline and talk a little
about the cache hierarchy.

Doug's bio:
Doug has been with Intel for 11 years. He has had
some involvement with every processor generation
since the 80486. Doug was one of the key architects
that defined the Pentium 4 Processor, and now leads
the group of architects that are working on a next
generation processor. Prior to joining Intel, Doug
did hard time at ROSS Technology, Cypress Semiconductor
and Lattice Semiconductor.
