So if the condor_master restarts itself and the daemons it's responsible for, such as condor_startd on execute machines, does this mean that execute machines that are actively running noncheckpointed jobs essentially kill the jobs they are running and the jobs start anew again on some execute machine?

One of the nice things about HTCondor is that essentially any version can interoperate seamlessly with any other. Any ClassAd attribute that is not recognized by an older version is simply ignored. This makes upgrades very simple no matter how far you?re jumping.
In addition, when a running condor_master notices when its own binary has changed, and automatically triggers a restart of itself and the daemons for which it?s responsible.
