Re: [HTCondor-users] windows update from v10.0.1LTS to v23.0.12 [SEC=OFFICIAL]

It is not intended that the 23.0 installer not be an upgrade of the 10.0 installer,  but if you overwrote the c:\condor directory, then 10.0 is effectively gone regardless of what the installer may say.

I'm pretty confident that HTCondor 23 will work if you choose to just leave it as-is, but if you want to have a clean 23.0 without any leftover 10.0 files or entries in Programs and Features then I see no option other than to uninstall 10.0 and then reinstall 23

If you want to fix up things by hand.  All of the HTCondor binaries are in c:\condor\bin. except the python bindings which have some files in c:\condor\lib\python as well.   You could just go through  those directories and delete older files.  But the libraries in c:\condor\bin are all versioned so if you have older versions in that directory, it will not affect the operation of 23.

As far as I know there is no way to get rid if the entries in  Program and features. other than to run the installer.

For what it's worth,  as a consequence if my own development process I usually have multiple old versions of the libraries in my c:\condor\bin directory, and they have never caused problems.

OFFICIAL

Hi,

I am starting a project to update from v10.0.1LTS to v23.0.12LTS on server 2022, the installer doesn’t seem to detect the original installation and after install is complete both versions show in Program and features.

Im installing to the original location c:\condor. Running condor_status –version reflects the new version.

Is this expected behavior?

Any suggestions for scripting the upgrade other than uninstall\reinstall? I have around 40nodes to update

Cheers,

Abbey
