Re: [HTCondor-users] Cluster upgrade from 8.8 to 9.0

Hi Gerard,

When we upgraded our cluster from 8.8.17 to 9.0.15, we had to do a phased approach with a new pair of central managers and then moving across the startd’s and schedd’s in batches. We used PASSWORD authentication and found that Condor 8.8 clients couldn’t talk to our new Condor 9.0 central managers with that authentication method. For our configuration we found that we couldn’t run a mixed cluster.

During our testing we found that the upgrade went smoother with a clean installation of Condor 9 rather than upgrading an existing Condor 8 for the Central Managers as well, this I attributed to new authentication mechanisms in Condor.

Tom

Subject: [HTCondor-users] Cluster upgrade from 8.8 to 9.0

When we upgrade from 8.8 to 9.0, do all servers in the cluster have to be upgraded at the same time, or is a mixed 8.8 / 9.0 cluster supported?
