[Condor-users] Multi-core setup for MPI/parallel jobs?

- Subject: [Condor-users] Multi-core setup for MPI/parallel jobs?
I've got a couple of dual-core nodes which I'd like to set aside for
Condor's parallel universe. While the basics are clear (define
DedicatedScheduler and add it to STARTD_ATTRS), how would I tell Condor
to use both CPUs? For obvious reasons, it often would make more sense
to use both of them in the same job, therefore 2 slots wouldn't make
sense, would they? For now, there's an explicit declaration of
NUM_CPUS = 2
MAX_SLOT_TYPES = 1
SLOT_TYPE_1 = cpus=2, mem=100%, swap=100%, disk=100%
NUM_SLOTS_TYPE_1 = 1
NUM_SLOTS = 1
If a user requests machine_count=20, this will allocate 20 nodes when
only 10 would be required - keeping the machines cooler but causing
unnecessary network traffic.
Any suggestions?
Steffen
