Also, to give myself a development environment, is it feasible to setup a few virtual machines in VMware or VirtualBox and have them running as condor master and slave nodes?

I realise it would be slow due to shared CPU and RAM but it would allow me much more freedom to experiment without the risk of trashing our production servers.

Probably not the right place to ask, but does anyone know of any Condor training courses or workshops coming up in the next 12 months?

We’d like to make better use of our setup and there’s only so much you can get out of a manual.
