Hi Zhu,

 

Please check the following things:

1) condor_configure file under etc directory, make sure

CONDOR_HOST = your Hostname
HOSTALLOW_READ = *
HOSTALLOW_WRITE = *

2) condor_configure.local file under local.yourhostname directory

CONDOR_HOST = you Hostname

then use condor_reconfig command to make these changes work. Keep an eye on the log files to see whether there are error messages.

I just install condor in one computer and use the command of "./condor_config --install -make-personal-condor" . This is my steps as following:

[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ export CONDOR_CONFIG=/home/condor/condor-7.2.4/etc/condor_config
[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ export PATH=/home/condor/condor-7.2.4/sbin:${PATH}
[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ export PATH=/home/condor/condor-7.2.4/bin:${PATH}
[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ echo $CONDOR_CONFIG
/home/condor/condor-7.2.4/etc/condor_config
[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ condor_master
[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ condor_q


-- Submitter: localhost.localdomain : <127.0.0.1:49235> : localhost.localdomain
 ID      OWNER            SUBMITTED     RUN_TIME ST PRI SIZE CMD              

0 jobs; 0 idle, 0 running, 0 held
[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ condor_status

[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ condor_status -any

[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$

 

Do you need any specific information?

Can you paste more information about your installation? Which daemons are running on your machine now? What about your condor configuration files?

All the things above may help to figure out what is wrong.

I have tried the condor-7.2.4-rhel5-x86-dynamic.tar.gz .I run condor_master ,condor_q and "ps -aux | grep cndor" is okey! But when I tried to run  condor_status,this message as fllowing:

 

[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ condor_status

[condor@localhost condor-7.2.4]$ condor_q

There should be my own computer's information. Why there is nothing?

Have you started condor_master? You should first run condor_master and it will start all other condor daemons for you.

If you are using Fedora 8 system, I think you'd better try the RHEL_3 or RHEL_5 release version.

Greeting to all,
 
I am trying to install condor on a Fedora 8 system. I tried the condor-7.2.4-freebsd6-x86-dynamic.tar.gz .when I tried to run the"ps -aus | grep condor" there is nothing!! And then I tried to run  condor_status,also there is nothing.

What would be the best condor tar release that can be installed in Fedora 8 boxes?
