[Condor-users] condor_fetchlog failure

I'm trying to use condor_fetchlog to view condor log files on remote 
startd hosts from the schedd host using:

[root@cithep169 var]# condor_fetchlog -debug cithep200 STARTD
Couldn't fetch log: permission denied.

I then tried to fetch the log files for the local host:

[root@cithep169 var]# condor_fetchlog -debug cithep169 STARTD
Couldn't fetch log: permission denied.

What might be the cause of the 'permission denied' failure, and why 
isn't that informatin printed out with the -debug option?
