Indeed - since I'm managing three pols with similar settings but different
hardware platforms (and separate managers) I have a general condor_config
which refers to platform-specific additions and local modifications.
CONDOR_HOST is defined in the platform-specific part.

Can you check the MasterLog? It should read like this:

2/6 12:49:25 Using config source: /etc/condor/condor_config
2/6 12:49:25 Using local config sources:
2/6 12:49:25    /usr/share/condor/etc/condor_config.LINUX.X86_64
2/6 12:49:25    /home/condor/etc/manager.local

if your config file dependency is correct
