Ruby and Opal are designed to work with SPARC targets. We use sarek.

Ruby can offer limited functionality for x86 targets. Opal is definitely
SPARC-only.

Could this be the cause of your Opal error?

The host architecture does not matter.

Are those the hosts and targets that could be used with GEMS? The Simics user guide mentions several hosts and targets, which cannot be found in that directory (such as alpha, fiesta, IA64, powerpc, etc.). Thank you for your help.
