Dave,
GEMS was developed with the home/sarek target in mind, which is a Sun Serengeti machine. The OS is flexible: either Solaris or Linux will work.

The other targets represent other architectures. home/dredd is an x86 machine, for instance. GEMS is only extensively tested for home/sarek, though a patch exists for Ruby (only) to operate on x86 targets. See the simics documentation (or run the gsimics binary, which has a gui-interface to the various targets) for more details on what other targets/architectures are available.

Regards,
Dan

Hello All,

In the GEMS documentation, it says they load a checkpoint of a single-processor machine with Solaris booted. What are the other options? I have checked the [simics]/home directory. Are those the hosts and targets that could be used with GEMS? The Simics user guide mentions several hosts and targets, which cannot be found in that directory (such as alpha, fiesta, IA64, powerpc, etc.). Thank you for your help.

Dave
