Hi Brad,
I actually don't have to use Simics 2.2, but the earliest version I
have access to in my Simics download center is 2.0.28 (which actually
compiles and runs). I think I can live what I have right now.

I am not sure what your scripts do, so I cannot estimate how much work
they would save me. But, yes, I guess I would like to take a look at
the scripts, if possible. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll wake up brave
and get GEMS to work with Simics version 2.2. :)

Thanks,
Karin

 Hi Karin,

What you need to do is edit ruby and opal to use similar functions that
are supported in simics 2.2. In our experience updating to a new
version
of simics can sometimes be a long and arduous process. Unless you
need a
feature of simics 2.2, I would recommend using the currently supported
version, 2.0.23. Learning GEMS can be difficult enough and then having
your first task to be updating simics versions, may be too aggressive.

If I haven't been successful in talking you out of upgrading simics
versions :), we should give you the scripts we use. Would you like to
see
them?

Here is a list of the mm_ functions for which I get errors:
mm_new_group (deprecated), mm_malloc, mm_zalloc, mm_strdup,
mm_realloc,
mm_align (redefined).

Any thoughts on that?
Thanks,
Karin
