Updates: data access and recovery on CHTC's staging and projects folders

Hello CHTC users,

 

This message is for all users, especially:

• HTC users using the /staging, /projects, or /software directories
• HPC users using the /projects directory

 

Here are some updates on our progress through the timeline shared on Monday:

 

/staging: We have created new staging directories for HTC users with default quotas of 100 GB / 1000 items. Some users reported being unable to submit jobs that needed access to /staging after the creation of their new directories. This has since been resolved, and users should now be able to submit jobs that require /staging.

 

Other reminders: 

• Quotas from the previous data store will not transfer over, so if you anticipate needing space beyond the default quota, especially in the short term, please fill out our Quota Request Form.

• Additionally, we will be creating group staging directories manually. If you need a group staging directory reinstated, please fill out our Quota Request Form with the path to your group directory. 

 

/projects and /software: The /projects and /software directories are slated to be recreated after /staging is stable. We will post announcements regarding these directories at a later time via email and our status page. If you have a specific need for these spaces, please contact us. 

 

Data recovery: We anticipate beginning the data recovery process next week (Dec 2-6). If you have an urgent data request, please send an email to chtc@xxxxxxxxxxx with a path to the data you need, and we will try to locate it.

 

Stay updated: The most up-to-date information will be posted on our status page and this page on our website. We will also release major announcements over email.
