Reminder: HTC Operating System Change TODAY (May 1)

Dear CHTC users, 

 

This email is for users of our high throughput computing (HTC) system. 

 

As of today, May 1, HTC jobs that do not use containers or otherwise specify an operating system version will be assigned by default to run on CentOS Stream 9 (changing from the last default of CentOS Stream 8). 

 

Actions to take: 

• If your jobs use containers (Docker or Apptainer/Singularity) – no action is required! 
• If your jobs do not use containers: 

• If you have *not* tested your jobs on CentOS Stream 9, we recommend opting into CentOS Stream 8 for the short term. See the transition guide for details: https://chtc.cs.wisc.edu/uw-research-computing/htc-el8-to-el9-transition

• Also see our transition guide for recommendations of how to transition your jobs to CentOS Stream 9. 

 

We are hosting an extra office hours today, May 1 from 10am - 12pm in the Discovery Building, room 1170, to help HTC users transition their jobs to CentOS Stream 9. Please join us! Additional help sessions will be scheduled later in May.
