CHTC downtime July 15-16 (multiple systems impacted)

Greetings CHTC users, 

 

We are planning a downtime next week, on Monday and Tuesday, July 15-16, impacting multiple CHTC systems and services. We are scheduling this downtime to address a bug that has likely been causing, among other things, the periodic unexpected shutdowns of hpclogin3, ap2001 and ap2002. Please read the following to understand the impacts of this downtime to you. 

• HTC System: 
• Login to servers ap2001.chtc.wisc.edu and ap2002.chtc.wisc.edu will be unavailable starting on the afternoon of Monday, July 15. 
• Jobs on ap2001 and ap2002 will be interrupted as well. They will remain in the queue and be re-run when the servers are back up. 
• HPC Cluster
• Log in to hpclogin3.chtc.wisc.edu and spark-login.chtc.wisc.edu will be unavailable starting on the afternoon of Monday, July 15. 
• Jobs running on the old HPC partitions (accessed through hpclogin3) and the new HPC partitions (accessed through spark-login) will be interrupted as well. They should remain in the queue and re-run when the servers are back up. 

 

The bulk of the maintenance will be done on Tuesday, July 16. We will update via this mailing list if the downtime will not be completed by the end of the day on July 16.
