Dear CHTC researcher:

This semester, the CHTC staff have an exciting new course offering that
could help you and your colleagues. Please share the information below
with anyone who might benefit from learning to write simple scripts to
use in CHTC and/or to automate CHTC workflows.

Announcing Computer Sciences 368-4: INTRODUCTION TO SCRIPTING FOR CHTC

Dates: October 24 - December 15, 2011 (second half of Fall semester)
Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:20-2:10 p.m.
Place: Computer Sciences 1257 (building is at 1210 West Dayton Street)
Instructor: Tim Cartwright

In this 1-credit course, you can learn to use the Python scripting
language and the UW’s CHTC computing facility to solve a variety of
research computing challenges: data manipulation, data analysis,
statistical analysis, image processing, workflow automation, etc.

In the past 12 months, researchers on campus have used 45 MILLION hours
of computing time in the CHTC -- for FREE! If computation is part of
your research, you might benefit from not only getting access to CHTC,
but using basic scripting to harness its full power.

The course is ideal for students, faculty, and staff whose research work
entails significant computing. Enroll today! Classes begin next week.
