Dear Tom,
Happy New Year!
I would like to ask for your
assistance in
informing outstanding students about internship opportunities with the
Rigorous Software Engineering group at Microsoft Research India.
For a student from any part of
the world,
our group offers an interesting experience in terms of doing
leading-edge
research, in addition to being a distinctive global cultural
experience.
Over the past few years, we have built a very strong intern program.
Our
group has had several PhD students from various parts of the world
intern with
us, including students from Berkeley, CMU, Princeton, Maryland,
Wisconsin, UT Austin, NYU, Urbana, Copenhagen, Oxford, Tel Aviv and
Singapore. From India, we continue to attract the best students from
the Indian
Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, and other
premier
institutes for internships.
As you know, our work spans
spanning
programming languages, verification and software engineering. Our
current work
is in software verification, testing, debugging, applications
of statistical and probabilistic techniques in programming tools ,
analyzing
concurrent programs, and new programming models for concurrent and
distributed
systems. In the past year, several of our projects have matured and
produced very interesting results. As a consequence, in 2009, we have
had
publications in almost every major conference in our research area.
Several of these publications came out of internship projects. Our
results and tools are also being used by Microsoft’s product groups,
and
are finding their way towards our customers. Our group webpage has
more
details.
We offer internships throughout
the year,
though most of our interns visit during the summer.
Applications for intern
positions can
be made from our website at: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/jobs/intern/about_india.aspx
If you or your students have
questions or
would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
