here's a funky workaround for you:
in your condor_config file, define the following:
STARTER1_LOG = $(LOG)/StarterLog.vm1
STARTER2_LOG = $(LOG)/StarterLog.vm2
STARTER3_LOG = $(LOG)/StarterLog.vm3
.
.
etc.
then, you should be able to use condor_fetchlog like this:
condor_fetchlog machinename STARTER1
condor_fetchlog machinename STARTER2
