[HTCondor-users] Pool-wide custom resources

Hi,

Is there a way of defining a pool-wide custom resource that jobs could require/use?

Our use case would be jobs that require a network licence to run, where the network licences are managed on a central server (i.e. not on the job execution node). Ideally, when the job is scheduled the pool-wide licence count would decrement by 1, and then when the job finishes the licence count would increment by 1. Jobs that require a licence would only be matched with an execution node if licences are available (e.g. if there are 50 network licences available, at most 50 jobs that require a licence could be running in parallel).

Our pool is still running HTCondor 8.8 (on Windows), although we could potentially upgrade if the required functionality is only available in more recent versions.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
