As Ben said, you can have a Linux VM running on Windows (we tried that, but performance was no good) or have your binaries compiled for both platforms. We have a pool where jobs are submitted only on Windows machines, but can run anywhere (Windows or Linux, whatever is available) since we have binaries that can deal with the dataset on both platforms.
