FWIW I put 64G on pretty much everything these days, just in case, but
really: buy more RAM. A small SSD for swap may tide you over until you
can afford more RAM.

Is this a 2x12-core system? -- Personally I'd want at least 48GB in that
(2GB/core), preferably 96+.
