- Subject: [HTCondor-users] starting/preempting jobs according to current memory usage of the rest of the system
hi,
i was wondering if there was any possibility to use the current memory
usage of the rest of the machine in order to start/preempt jobs.
for instance, if you have a desktop computer that you want to use to run
condor jobs, the machine might be idle but some program might still
occupy quite a lot of RAM. if condor does not take this into account,
the jobs might crash because they cannot allocate any more memory.
on the other hand, it would also be good to be able to preempt jobs in
case memory requirements of the rest of the system increases.
thanks a lot in advance,
thomas
