thanks for the input. 

I upgraded to CENTOS 7 and everything works fine. 

There are some minor things like the systemd issues with the cleanup of /var/run at boot time that are not reflected in the RHEL7 rpm pkgs of 8.3.6 but once that is overcome it works like a treat - thanks for that !

There are some problems with Docker on SL/RHEL 6.  We are looking at 
working around those problems now, but it does work on rhel/sl 7 kernels.
