Hi, I do something similar to what you describe by submitting "vm universe 
jobs" to htcondor installed on desktop machines.  When the desktop is idle 
, the jobs run and run vms which do the actual work.  The vms could run 
mosix.  The downside is you have to maintain a submit node and keep the 
jobs queued, its not automatic like htcondors older backfill features 
which only ever worked with boinc.
