- Subject: [Condor-users] How critical is WinXP reboot after removing condor & installing new one?
Hi,
When I install condor on a fresh PC, it just works out of the box.
I have tried this with version 7.4.2 and 7.4.3.
However, when I upgrade (remove 7.4.2 and install 7.4.3),
then the PC does not join the pool anymore.
If I reinstall (remove condor and install 7.4.2 again), same problem.
I cannot reboot the PC after removal. The PCs are public library
computer, which have a so-called locked hard disk: when they
reboot, the hard disk comes back in its original state!
So a reboot does have the expected effect in such case.....
Hence, I remove and install without reboot inbetween.
After installation I fixate the hard disk.
How critical is the reboot after removal for condor's functioning
later?
I noticed that the startd.exe is failing continuously....but why?
For example, from MasterLog:
The STARTD (pid 3724) exited with status 0
Do the log files tell any more useful information:

Thank you!
Rob.
