[Condor-users] condor_mail blocks complete system

Hello all,

 

I just downloaded and installed Condor 7.2 on Windows and encountered a bug using the mail notification.

I enabled the mail notification within Condor by setting the mail paramters within the config file (CONDOR_ADMIN and SMTP_SERVER). When calling condor_submit the Condor quits and I get the follwing error message:

 

-- Failed to fetch ads from: <10.2.177.17:3924> : des-eowin.eu.trimblecorp.net
CEDAR:6001:Failed to connect to <10.2.177.17:3924>

 

It stands out that condor_mail seems to run endlessly and needs quite much CPU.

Restarting Condor only works after killing the condor_mail task. After removing the mail parameters in the config file, submitting jobs work fine again.

 

Due to the above error and the also reported bug using condor_chirp command I will switch to Condor version 7.0.5 again until the bugs are resolved. The new version currently seems not to be stable at all.
