From my experience, the mapping (two-way) between name and number must be accurate and accessible to all machines. Clearly /etc/hosts is a way to do it, but it is cumbersome when the cluster is big. That's why I mentioned the DNS setup. In any case, glad it worked!

It was a problem with /etc/hosts. I applied the following configuration on my cm and my nodes and it works :
127.0.0.1     localhost
<ip address of cm on my LAN>     cm.lg43     cm
<ip address of node1 on my LAN>      node1.lg43     node1
<ip address of node2 on my LAN>      node2.lg43     node2

Yes, it looks OK. Check the logs to see where the daemons are binding to. A bad DNS setup might also cause trouble.
