Hi,

Just to second Rajam's problem, we had the same issues on windows 
(6.7.12-6.8.1).
It takes quite a while for condor to find that the starter computer 
crashed. And usually
condor_vacate or condor_vacate_job does not kick the job out of the 
machine only
condor_hold and release does the trick.
