A quick warning on this... There's a bug in the pre-6.7.19 collectors that
cause 'em to crash if you have machines in the "backfill" state -- but only
if the view collector code is enabled.
In general, the view collector code is less tested than the main collector
code (onto which it is attached); bugs in it can (and, as above, often do)
affect the main collector engine on which it's running. Thus, enabling this
for your main collector, besides the possible performance problems, could
possibly cause other problems (like crashes).
