I know that at one point, the Statistics department at my University 
(UW-Madison) heavily used R with Condor.  In fact, I think they used 
it in the standard universe w/ checkpointing etc.

I will forward your request to the couple of folks I know who were 
involved using R + Condor and ask them to post some wisdom back to 
this group.  You may have to be a little patient; I know one of them 
is on vacation until next week.
