>From your master log earlier, the master wasn't even trying to start 
the daemon, probably because you don't have the collector in your
daemon_list. Verify that your config file has

DAEMON_LIST = MASTER,STARTD,SCHEDD,COLLECTOR,NEGOTIATOR
