[Condor-users] STARTER_LOCAL_LOGGING

Could someone explain what happens if you set STARTER_LOCAL_LOGGING to 
false?  I know that this means that the what would normally appear in the 
execute machine's StarterLog now appears in the submit machine's ShadowLog 
but I'd like to know how this works.

In particular, does the condor_starter write its messages to a local 
"spool" file and then at job completion send the contents of this file 
back to the condor_shadow, or does it send messages directly to the 
condor_shadow as they occur?  If the latter, this presumably means that 
such messages are interleaved with the normal log messages from 
condor_shadow processes...?

And does it create a "persistent" file handle that is actually a network 
socket connected to the condor_shadow for the duration of the job, or does 
it open and close network sockets as necessary to talk to the 
condor_shadow, or what...?
