Oh well done! For some reason I had looked at the MasterLog and
StartLog, but not the StarterLog. In there it had:

   ERROR "Uid not found in passwd file & SOFT_UID_DOMAIN is False"
   at line 336 in file starter_common.C

I fixed the problem and the job is now running fine.
