In order to match the name change of the Condor software to HTCondor
(*see below for details), be aware the name of this email list will be
changing from "condor-devel" to "htcondor-devel". This switchover is
scheduled for Weds Nov 7th @ 10am central USA time. You will see the
change reflected in the subject line and email headers (such as
reply-to, list-id). For instance, the start of the subject line will
switch from "[Condor-devel]" to "[HTCondor-devel]". You may want to
adjust any personal automatic email filters accordingly. We anticipate
the switchover will take less than two hours. During the switchover,
there could be a delay of email delivery and the archives may be
unavailable.
Other than the above, the impact to you should be minimal because: i)
anyone subscribed to condor-devel will be subscribed to htcondor-devel,
ii) email sent to condor-devel@xxxxxxxxxxx will be automatically
forwarded to htcondor-devel@xxxxxxxxxxx, iii) the condor-devel archive
of old messages will be moved to htcondor-devel, and iv) web URLs to the
condor-devel list page will be redirected to the new htcondor-devel page.
Thank you,
UW-Madison HTCondor Team

*(Previous posting from Oct 25):
"Condor" name changing to "HTCondor"
In order to resolve a lawsuit challenging the University of
Wisconsin-Madison's use of the "Condor" trademark, the University has
agreed to begin referring to its Condor software as "HTCondor"
(pronounced "aitch-tee-condor"). The letters at the start of the new
name ("HT") derive from the software's primary objective: to enable high
throughput computing, often abbreviated as HTC. Starting in the end of
October and through November of this year, you will begin to see this
change reflected on our web site, documentation, web URLs, email lists,
and wiki. While the name of the software is changing, nothing about the
naming or usage of the command-line tools, APIs, environment variables,
or source code will change. Portals, procedures, scripts, gateways, and
other code built on top of the Condor software should not have to change
at all when HTCondor is installed.
