I have successfully ran some splash benchmark in within hours. You might
want to look at what data set you are running your simulations. Or may
be your host machine might be causing this.
If you are running opal, you can simulate a certain number of instructions by using opal0.sim-step Also you can put a "Magic breakpoint" in your benchmark that stops the simulation after certain number of iterations. Look at the simics manual for the magic breakpoint implementation.
