I can't comment directly on SPEC 2k, but I do know that it takes hours to run many of the SPEC 2k6 benchmarks on a real machine -- expecting the benchmark to run to completion under simulation is not realistic.

To give you a ballpark idea, we use the following host machine and target configuration:

Host:
Dual quad-core Intel Xeon
16 GB RAM

Target:
Solaris 9
8 UltraSparc III+ processors
Apache web server
Simics 2.2.19

We get about 16 KIPS out of running Simics with Ruby and Opal loaded. Thats about 18 hours per 1 billion instructions.

Dan

 SPEC 2000 bechmarks
 simics 2.2.19

When I tried to simulate m_grid bechmark, It took more than 2 day and
hasn't finished yet.

Does anybody teel me how long does it take in your machines and your host
machine configuration.

Thanks.
