Subject: [Chtc-users] CHTC to reboot to address new security vulnerability
Greetings CHTC Users,

A linux security vulnerability has become apparent and will require a full reboot of all CHTC servers ASAP. We will start rebooting servers in our HTC System today at noon, and servers in the HPC Cluster are being rebooted on an ongoing basis starting today.Â

For users of our HTC System:
  • submit servers will be briefly unavailable when they're rebooted (including group-owned submit servers)
  • execute servers will be gradually rebooted over the course of 24 hours, starting at noon today (Monday, June 26)
  • jobs that are running when the execute servers are rebooted will be evicted, but HTCondor will keep them in the queue and automatically re-run them
For users of our HPC Cluster:
  • starting this morning, execute servers are being gradually rebooted as jobs complete
  • job matching may be slower than usual; however, already running jobs should not be interrupted
We thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to keep our compute systems secure for all users. As always, please send any questions to chtc@xxxxxxxxxxx, rather than replying to this email.

Best,
Your CHTC Team
