Subject: [Chtc-users] Announcing the Open Science Grid User School 2015!
Greetings,

We are happy to help promote the annual Open Science Grid User School, to be held July 27-31!

Each year the NSF-funded Open Science Grid (OSG) selects a group of students for this week-long dive into high-throughput computing approaches, technologies, and skills, and within a larger context of computational research design that students take into their future careers as researchers. Students across the country from nearly any research discipline are invited to apply, and selected applicants will obtain direct access to the OSG beyond the duration of the school.

Please consider forwarding the below announcement email to your friends, colleagues, and/or students such that this opportunity may reach as many interested individuals as possible. Completion of a (very) short application is due by May 1.

Many Thanks!
Your CHTC Team (who help organize and instruct at the school)

ANNOUNCINGÂTHE OPEN SCIENCE GRID USER SCHOOL 2015!

If you could access thousands or even millions of hours of computing, howÂwould it transform your research? What discoveries might you make?

We are looking for students to apply for and attend the Open Science GridÂ(OSG) User School 2015, where they will learn to use high throughputÂcomputing (HTC) approaches to harness vast amounts of computing power for research.ÂThe School takes placeÂ27-31 JulyÂat the beautiful University of WisconsinÂin Madison.

Using lectures, discussions, role-plays, and lots of hands-on work with OSGÂexperts in HTC, students will learn how HTC systems work, how to run andÂmanage many jobs and huge datasets to implement a full scientific computingÂworkflow, and where to turn for help and more info. Students will be given access to the NSF-funded Open Science Grid of vast HTC computing capacity.

Completion of a short application form and letter of recommendation are required. Successful applicants will get financial support toÂattend the OSG School, covering all basic travel, hotel, and food costs.

Ideal candidates are science, technology, engineering, and mathematicsÂ(STEM) graduate students whose research demands large-scale computing.ÂWe also consider applications from individuals in other research areas, as well as post-doctoral students, faculty, staff, and advanced undergraduates, so make a good case for yourself!
